Reducing Revenue Leakage in Freight Classification
Less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers base their freight rates on the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) codes system.
Shippers mention these codes on the Bill of lading (B/L) for the cargo being shipped.
But very often, these codes are wrong – either inadvertently by the shipper or deliberately (to avoid high base rates charged by the LTL carrier).
